Description:
Overview

Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, the Regulatory Compliance Analyst will analyze data to support Coinbase’s compliance policies and operations by creating rules which optimize the balance between the compliance program and the user experience.

Responsibilities

May perform some or all of the following tasks to ensure a high level of compliance with applicable internal and external rules and regulations, including:

Establishing patterns of behavior indicating both “usual” and “unusual” activity
Estimating user impact for setting thresholds at various levels
Deriving and refining business rules for managing compliance queues
Performing queries in an efficient manner to extract data from the system
Producing reports needed for regulatory compliance audits and due diligence;
Summarizing analysis results into graphs, tables and presentations;
Conducting investigations of alerts for potential suspicious activity and sanctions violations, to improve the feedback loop to the business logic;
Assisting in the implementation of new regulations or changes to existing regulations;
Forecasting volumes of activity based on current and historical actuals;
Performing segmentation analysis to group users who are similar in behavior;
Other analysis as required by the business;
Supporting partner and legal requests/subpoenas for information;
Filing SAR reports with FinCEN as necessary;

Maintaining detailed documentation of all processes used to satisfy above activities;
Other duties & responsibilities as required or assigned.

Requirements:
Qualifications

B.A./B.S. degree or equivalent;
1 year or more experience using a variety of datastores;
A basic knowledge of banking, money service business and money transmission laws and regulations;
Ability to handle highly confidential information;
Ability to multi-task and complete projects on time;
A self-starter and well organized; ability to work independently, without supervision;
Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills;
Intermediate to advanced experience working with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software programs;
Effective interpersonal skills;
Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as accomplish work assignments under minimal supervision and sometimes tight deadlines;
Excellent writing, analytical and communication skills;
Well developed analytical skills;
CAMS certified (not required but a major plus);
Prior experience in conducting suspicious activity monitoring or customer due diligence investigations (not required but a major plus).
