Description:
Overview

Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, the Regulatory Compliance Investigator will conduct compliance reviews and analysis in support of and Coinbase’s BSA/AML and other regulatory compliance policies and programs.

Responsibilities

May perform some or all of the following of regulatory compliance tasks and projects to ensure a high level of compliance with applicable internal and external rules and regulations, including:

Investigating alerts for suspicious activity and potential sanctions violations;
Reviewing applications from new and activity of existing merchants on the Coinbase platform;
Conducting enhanced due diligence reviews and research;
Adhering to and complying with the applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance and Coinbase’s policies and procedures;
Remaining current with industry developments and new BSA (Bank Secrecy Act)/AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and OFAC (Office of Foreign Asset Control) rules/regulations;
Assisting in the implementation of new regulations or changes to existing regulations;
Assisting in the design of compliance related products and rules or other company products having compliance impact;
Organizing, analyzing and presenting data related to the Bank Secrecy Act, the USA Patriot Act, OFAC, including applicable CTR (Currency Transaction Reports) and SAR (Suspicious Activity Reports) decisioning;
Completing SARs in compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act;
Assisting with regulatory audits and exams;
Responding to AML related inquiries;
Investigating and responding to information sharing requests;
Handling law enforcement requests;
Maintaining detailed documentation of all processes used to satisfy above activities;
Other duties & responsibilities as required or assigned.

Requirements:
Qualifications

B.A./B.S. degree or equivalent;
CAMS certified (not required but a major plus);
Minimum 1 year prior experience in conducting suspicious activity monitoring or customer due diligence investigations;
A basic knowledge of banking, money service business and money transmission laws and regulations to include the BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, U.S. Treasury AML guidelines, OFAC requirements and Suspicious Activity Reporting;
Ability to handle highly confidential information;
Ability to multi-task and complete projects on time;
A self-starter and well organized; ability to work independently, without supervision;
Demonstrated effective time management and organizational skills;
Intermediate to advanced experience working with word processing and spreadsheet software programs;
Effective interpersonal skills;
Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as accomplish work assignments under minimal supervision and sometimes tight deadlines;
Excellent writing, analytical and communication skills;
Well developed analytical skills.
